While everyone has differing needs for how often they should visit their doctor of optometry, generally speaking those under 18 and those 65 and older should have an eye exam once every year. Those between the age of 18 and 65 should have an eye exam once every two years. This is true even if you have no vision concerns and/or do not wear glasses.

If you wear contact lenses or have been diagnosed with diabetes it is recommended you visit your doctor of optometry on at least a yearly basis. Often the cost of a yearly eye exam for diabetics in Saskatchewan can be billed through a valid Saskatchewan Health Card.

Of course many factors go in to deciding how often you need an eye exam; therefore after each eye exam we will discuss with you what recall schedule is appropriate for your individual needs.
